A Turkish container port operator buys stake in Malta Freeport

A Turkish container port operator, Yildirim Holding AS, buys 50% stake in Malta Freeport. The company which already owns 20% of CMA CGM has demonstarted great interest in the Malta Freeport due to its strategic location at the centre of the Mediterranean Sea. Sources claimed that the deal is said to cost Yildirim Holding AS some €200 million.
CMA CGM was awarded a 30 year concession to operate the Malta Freeport in 2004 and which was ectended to 65 years in 2008.
