Delegates from 58 nations were in Malta on Tuesday to examine an essential step for the the international maritime industry: the recognition of judicial sales.

The Comité Maritime International (CMI) took care of organising the meeting, co-hosted by the Transport Ministry.

Addressing the gathering, Transport Minister Ian Borg said Malta was frequently the primary decision maker with regards to capturing vessels and continuing to enforce rights against ships, which regularly prompt legal deals or court affirmed private deals.

"Malta has a responsibility pertaining to the interests of all stakeholders, including that of the financiers who have registered their mortgages in the country", he said.
