Port Tariffs

These dues are charged at a standard rate according to the Net Registered Tonnage of a ship:-

Description of Vessel

For 7 days or part thereof for the duration in port

(as from 1st January 2013)

 Sailing and auxiliary crafts  €9.31 for every 20 tons or part thereof
Steam ships (not  more than 2,000 tons)  €35 for every 500 tons or part thereof
Steam vessels (more than 2,000 tons)  
 - for the first 2,000 tons  €170
 - for every 1,000 tons or part thereof in excess of 2,000 tons  €17

Port Tariffs payable in respect of laid-up vessels.

Laid up vessels, whether registered under Malta flag or otherwise, shall pay port dues as follows:

DESCRIPTION OF VESSEL

For every period of 7 days or part thereof

Vessels not exceeding 10 tons  €20 per vessel
Vessels exceeding 10 tons but not exceeding 50 tons  €40 per vessel
Vessels exceeding 50 tons but not exceeding 100 tons  €65 per vessel
Vessels exceeding 100 tons but not exceeding 500 tons  €85 per vessel

 

 

 

 

 

Laid-up ships exceeding 500 tons shall pay port dues as follows:

DESCRIPTION OF VESSEL

For every period of 7 days or part thereof

Vessels not exceeding 2,000 tons  €70 for every 500 tons or part thereof
Vessels exceeding 2,000 tons  
 - for the first 2,000 tons  €350
 - for every 1,000 tons or part thereof in excess of 2,000 tons  €35
 

Berthing and Anchorage Fees

Every craft including vessels and yachts at a berth, under the control and management of the Port  Directorate shall be subject to Berthing and Anchorage fees for every period of 24 hours and part thereof, as follows:-

 Length overall between 80 metres and 200 metres  €115  €230
 Length overall over 200 metres  €175  €350

 

 

 

 

As stated in article 2 of the Legal Notice L.N. 174 of 2005 regarding the Berthage Dues Regulations, 2005, “Berth” shall have the same meaning as that assigned to “quay” in the Ports Regulations 1966, and also includes anchoring or stopping areas within the ports, internal waters or territorial waters of Malta.
