Earth Day 2019
22 / 04 / 19
“From poisoning and injuring marine life to the ubiquitous presence of plastics in our food to disrupting human hormones and causing major life-threatening diseases and early puberty, the exponential growth of plastics is threatening our planet’s survival”.- Kathleen Rogers, the Earth Day Network’s President
Earth Day event is almost 50 years old. It started in the US on 22 April in 1970. At that time, millions of people protested against environmental damage caused by decades of industrial development. Its pioneering9 work spawned an entire environmental movement and laws to safeguard nature. From its initial success, the network has grown to unite 50,000 partners in 193 countries, and now engages an estimated one billion people around the world. This landmark event has always turned its attention to some of the most pressing issues of the day, from climate change to deforestation.
While it might take a Maltese village to enact change, it only takes one person to begin the process. By implementing just a few green initiatives you too can improve your environmental footprint. What do you think? Is it worth it making business changes on your plastic usage in 2019 and help Earth Day end plastic pollution by 2020?
