Celebrating its 50th anniversary, the Rolex Middle Sea Race started on Saturday the 20th October at the Valletta Grand Harbour, being the magnificent location in its own right. This year's edition brought together a record of fleet of more than 140 yachts.  This 606 nautical miles offshore race, being one of the biggest offshore race which goes around Sicily and ending in Malta, gathered the most professionals sailors of the world. The biggest challenge of this race is to withstand the unpredictable weather.

According to the latest information, in the multihull class, Giovanni Soldini' s Maserati is in the lead position followed by Peter Cunningham's Powerplay which is competing in the race for the first time.  Both of them are expected to arrive this morning. Maserati, Powerplay? Which of the two will be the first to cross the line?

In the monohull fleet, George David's Rambler is placed first but unfortunately he could not beat his own 2007 record: 47 hours 55 minutes and 3 seconds. His rival Dieter Schön’MOMO follows him closely.

The prize-giving ceremony will take place on Saturday, the 27th October 2018 at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta.
